Master plan for the expansion and redevelopment of Olmi Park in Bergamo

Current status:  concluded

Funding programme:  Fondazione CARIPLO

Project budget:  € 25.000

Website: –

The Ermanno Olmi Park Masterplan envisions the redevelopment of the current Park area and its expansion through the depaving of part of the Malpensata parking lot. It assumes a multiplicity of objectives to be achieved harmoniously, which are, in logical order: the sports, recreational and safe use of the Park, the improvement of climatic comfort, the enhancement of biodiversity, the absorption of CO2, the increase of urban drainage and the mitigation of air pollutants.
In this regard, two types of design solicitations were harmonized:
- the proposals from the citizen's participatory process, which are the priority references of the Masterplan project;
- the design elements resulting from the objectives set forth in the "Click-Bergamo" Climate Transition Strategy.

Method for assessing and mapping the territorial risk to heat

Current status:  uprunning

Funding programme:  internal

Project budget:  € 10.000 for the first step

The assessment and the representation of heat risk factors (danger, exposure, vulnerability) is functional to support the development of strategies and actions to intervene on the physical-morphological, socio-economic and organizational factors of urban areas to reduce the intensity of this risk. The goal of this work is to help developing a method for assessing and mapping territorial heat risk based on an open, flexible and repeatable map system. This work stems from a recently developed theoretical and practical activity and achieves some important results such as the theoretical-methodological development of the territorial assessment and mapping of heat risk for the population of an urban area.

Empowering Climate Resilience - Erasmus+ Project

Current status:  concluded

Funding programme:  ERASMUS+

Project budget:  € 30.000

Website: https://www.erasmus-care.eu/_wp/

The CARE project, funded by the ERASMUS + program of the European Commission, promoted the enhancement of the interdisciplinary skills of the staff and students of Latin American universities through the development of innovative educational approaches to planning. To respond adequately to the request for integrating climate resilience into policies at different levels, thinking on resilience requires the interaction between different disciplines (spatial planning, environment, engineering, landscape), collaboration with research and the involvement of public administrators and professionals. For this reason, CARE turned to professionals and administrations by providing flexible and open e-training modules and a solid conceptual and application foundation on resilience.
